20th Anniversary of the
National Cowboy Symposium
2008 Parade of the Horse
Rancho Santiago's 140 year old Hackney chuck wagon won 1st place for "Best Representation of the Cowboy Era."

Driving the team of Bert and Betty is Dr. Jim Gamble with Maria Gamble riding shot gun. Mike Dillard, Jordan Hughes, & Doc Puryear rode mules as safety outriders. Scott Houy, Gencie, and Hattie helped it all come together and be successful.
Rancho Santiago's 127 year old Brewster wagon placed 2nd to our Rancho Santiago Chuck Wagon. 200 entries competed for a total of 5 possible awards. Rancho Santiago won 3 of the 5 awards. We were honored to have several decedents of Quanah Parker riding in our white wagon.

Quote of the 20th Anniversary National Cowboy Symposium Parade of the Horse was from Maria to Jim: "I have never seen anyone work so hard to have fun!"
Jordan Hughes riding "Chickasaw Indian's Jake". Shanan Cogburn drove the mule team of Rosie & Jessie with David Murph riding shotgun.
Mike Dillard packing "War Paint" and riding "Black Berry Moonshine". Doc Puryear riding Maria's "Mr. B".
